This new version of MyMIDI Player has been 2 years in development, and a huge amount has changed in both visible and invisible ways. Full explanations of all the new features will come with the full release.
Up until now, MyMIDI Player has exclusively used SF2 soundfonts to generate music for MIDI files. Version 5 (optionally) introduces some very specific VST2 instruments, which produce greatly superior instrument reproduction. Using these VST2 instruments is also more demanding on your computer. Learning how different computers perform will be part of the beta testing experience.
NOTE 1: You must be on MyMIDI Player v4.04 (the latest release) to be a beta tester.
NOTE 2: There is some risk that your existing data, like songs you’ve added to the library, song settings you’ve saved, favourite songs and songs to ignore could be lost, but that should not happen. However if you’ve done a lot of work like this, you must be aware of this possibility, however remote.
- Downloading MyMIDI Player installation files
- Upgrading your player from v4 to v5, or from one beta test version to the next.
- Following various instructions to setup and test MyMIDI Player 5.
- Trying out the various features of MyMIDI Player for yourself.
- Downloading and installing some other software in order to have some VST instrument available to MyMIDI Player.
- Repeating steps 1-5 until we reach stability.
Having read all of the above, if you would like to proceed and becoming a beta tester for MyMIDI Player v5, please complete and submit the form below. I will then send you the address of the beta test page where we will be working. While some level of skill is required, I’m not just after super-users with super-computers; mainly I’m after willing people who use MyMIDI Player on real world computers.
